BARCELONA FLOWERS NECKLACE (PANOT)

The Flowers of Barcelona pendant is a round medallion pendant with openwork flowers representing the design of the best known and most representative tile of the streets of Barcelona.

The iconic Flor de Barcelona (panot) tile was first documented in 1906 when the Barcelona City Council decided to hold a public competition to pave the streets of the city and put an end to the mud on them. Five models of hydraulic cement tiles were chosen, including the well-known flower. Until recently the design was attributed to the modernist architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch because of its resemblance to the tiles at the entrance to Casa Amatller (Passeig de Gràcia, Barcelona), but studies in 2013 confirmed that it was not the same design.

The pendant is 25 mm in diameter with a matte finish and can be made of silver or 18K gold-plated silver. The pendant is sold with an included silver chain (925 silver or gold plated silver depending on the piece) 40 cm long.
